Railway Construction
Since 1990, Yunnan Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Co.,Ltd (YMEC) entered into the close and friendly cooperation relationship with Myanmar Railway in the supply of railway equipment and materials. Up to now, YMEC has already exported 16 locomotives, 53 passenger coaches, 100,000 tons of rails, railway communication systems, railway machineries, and engineering equipments etc. to Myanmar Railway. In 1991, the first batch of 2000HP locomotives to Myanmar Railway supplied by YMEC made the breakthrough of none exportation record for Chinese main railway locomotives. Because of its appropriate design suited to the local line, the reliable and durable performance, and very low malfunction rate, all the locomotives exported by YMEC have been used on the railway main lines inside Myanmar with the steepest gradient and the worst condition which requires very high performance for every part of the locomotives. They undertook the important task of passenger and cargo transportation and played the greatly important role that cannot be replaced by other locomotives. YMEC made the special contribution to improvement of transportation condition of Myanmar Railways and the development of Myanmar economic society.
In 2006, recommended by Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of Embassy of the People ‘s Republic of China in the Union of Myanmar and China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery and Electric Products, and censored and passed by Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China Department of Foreign Economic Cooperation, Department of Mechanic, Electronic and Hi-Tech Industry, Department of Asian Affairs, China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation and The Export-Import Bank of China, YMEC participated in the tender of supplying 20 2000HP meter-gauge diesel electric locomotives which procured by Myanmar government using favorable loan fund, and YMEC awarded the tender. In May 10, 2007, YMEC officially signed the contract for the supply of 20 locomotives to Myanmar Railway. These 20 new diesel locomotives that will be put into service must be very effective to the improvement of Myanmar’s traffic and transportation, thus plays the certain role of promotion of Myanmar’s economic development.
Since 2004, YMEC has exported railway construction materials and large-scale complete set of equipment to Malaysia Railway, such as rails and hopper wagons for railway constructions, and has undertaken the refurbishment of more than 100 traction motors of locomotives for Malaysia Railway. These projects won the approval and admiration from Malaysia Railway, and YMEC built up a good reputation in Malaysia Railway.
