Coverage of Locomotive Handover Ceremony of New Light of Myanmar
The ceremony was held at Yangon Railway Station on November 2nd, 2008. Present on the occasion were Lt-Gen Myint Swe of the Ministry of Defence, Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Brig-Gen Win Myint, Minister for Rail Transportation Maj-Gen Aung Min, Yangon Mayor Brig-Gen Aung Thein Lin, Deputy Ministers Thura U Thaung Lwin and U Pe Than, the managing director of Myanma Railways (MR), officials and staff, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Guan Mu, Economic & commercial Counsellor Mr. Tanghai, Chairman of YMEC Mr Feng Ke, Chief Engineer of Dalian Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. (DLRS) Mr. Liang Shangtong and embassy staff and guests.
The locomotives delivered at the handover ceremony were exported to MR by YEMC and made by DLRS, CKD-7-B brand 2000 HP diesel locomotives were installed with Caterpillar 3516-B engine and DLC microcomputer control system, they can be used not only in plains but also in hilly regions.
