Cyclone Nargis Made Landfall in Myanmar and Causing Catastrophic Destruction
A devastating cyclone named Nargis, which occurred over the Bay of Bengal, struck Myanmar and hit five divisions and states -Yangon, Bago, Ayeyawaddy, Kayin and Mon, of which Ayeyawaddy and Yangon sustained the most casualties.
After international flights through Myanmar's Yangon International Airport were resumed, the executives of YMEC arrived in Myanmar and sent the Message of Condolences to the Ministry of Electric Power No.1, the Ministry of Electric Power No.2, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Rail Transportation, the Ministry of Mines and other cooperation partners of YMEC in the Union of Myanmar. On May 7, on behalf of YMEC, Vice President He Wen made donations to the Myanmar people through the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and expressed YMEC’s firm belief that the Myanmar Government and people will surely defeat the disaster, overcome the difficulties and be able to quickly resume normal work and life in those affected areas.
